Coach Wu speaking at the Peak Performance Coaching Conference 2010 during a panel discussion. Organized by the Singapore Sports Council. Coach Wu: Athletes(our) have the required results, but they do not have the opportunity to compete. At the recent SEA Games, if we had been given the opportunity to send a team there, we would have won 2 bronze medals. However, the Singapore Sports Council didn't give us the opportunity to do so. Panel Speaker: You are saying that the athletes were not being selected for the SEA Games, is it? Coach Wu: Because competitive sports on the competition stage are varied and random(anything can happen), but the required results that the Singapore Sports Council wants us to achieve are too high. Furthermore, our performance/results have already reached a certain level, but they still feel that we are not good enough and thus we don't have the opportunity to send a team out. However, looking back at the recent SEA Games, our athletes would have won 2 bronze medals. Hence, we missed out on the opportunity/chance just like that. Panel Speaker: Selection for the SEA Games is out of our control*... (voice got drown out) Coach Wu: One more thing. Sometimes our athletes will go for competitions and some of them are serving national service, but they are unable to take leave. They have the results, but they are unable to take leave to compete.
